Social Value
Supporting People. Strengthening Communities.
At HGMR, social value is embedded into the way we deliver our social housing contracts. Our aim is not only to maintain and improve homes, but to create meaningful opportunities and lasting benefits for the people and communities in which we work.
Our Social Value activity is led at Director level and planned in partnership with our clients, ensuring our commitments respond to genuine local priorities and can be measured, evidenced and reported.
Creating Local Opportunities
We actively support local employment, skills development and pathways into the construction and property maintenance sector through apprenticeships, work placements, recruitment and careers support.
Our recent delivery has included:
2 locally recruited apprentices
2 operatives recruited from WCHG homes
13 Greater Manchester-based employees
6 structured work placements, each lasting at least three weeks
16 hours of employee volunteering
£300 of community donations
Donations of suitable surplus materials to support local initiatives
Working in Partnership
We believe the greatest social impact is achieved through collaboration. We work with housing providers, colleges, employment services, community organisations and voluntary groups to identify where our resources and expertise can make the greatest difference.
Our activity includes supporting:
Employment & Skills
Creating local jobs, apprenticeships and work experience opportunities, while supporting residents with CVs, interviews and pathways into employment.
Young People
Providing structured work placements, careers engagement, trade demonstrations and opportunities for young people to gain an insight into careers within construction and property maintenance.
Community Support
Contributing employee volunteering time, practical support, materials and financial donations to community projects and organisations.
Digital Inclusion
Working with partners to help residents develop the digital skills needed to access services, employment opportunities and everyday online resources.
Inclusive Communities
Supporting initiatives that bring people together, improve inclusion and strengthen local neighbourhoods.
Measuring Our Impact
We set clear Social Value commitments and monitor delivery throughout our contracts.
Our approach includes defined targets, responsible owners, delivery dates and evidence requirements, with progress reviewed regularly and reported transparently to our clients.
Where appropriate, we use recognised measures such as the HACT Social Value Bank to help demonstrate the wider value created through our activity.
